Highlights of the Harmony Hotel

I had the pleasure of going to Nosara, Costa Rica last April for a week for the first time and it was one of the best trips I have ever been on. People love this place and continue to visit for a reason. The food, the people, the vibes, the prices (!!) and scenery, everything is just wonderful. I would go back in a heartbeat!

The harmony hotel is a little challenging to get to if you fly into the bigger airport of Liberia, which is most common, but the hotel will arrange a car to drive you to the hotel where you’ll get to see all the little villages along the way as you make the journey along the bumpy dirt roads. Once you arrive, you are greeted with fresh juices as you check in and you instantly feel 100x more relaxed.

The best word to describe the food in Costa Rica is fresh. Unlike in America, where everything is ultra-processed, Costa Ricans really value local produce, meats, and fish and have a very farm-to-table approach, something I really appreciate.

Now… onto the hotel…

The Harmony Hotel had 2 different places to eat within it. They had a juice bar which had juices, small snacks, and smoothies. And then they had the main restaurant which served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with a full service bar.

Every morning before I did the complimentary onsite yoga I grabbed a fresh juice and ginger shot from the juice bar to give me some energy and they were so fresh and delicious; not to mention some of the strongest ginger shots I had ever taken!

After yoga I stopped back by the juice bar for a latte - y’all Costa Rican coffee is top tier. I actually now get special espresso beans shipped to me on a subscription to my house after this trip because I fell in love with their coffee so much.

For breakfast at the main restaurant they always start you with a complimentary fresh seasonal fruit plate. Since we went in April this typically included papaya, watermelon, cantaloupe, bananas, and pineapple. For the actual breakfast it was honestly so hard to pick what to get each day because everything was so dang good. I tried to rotate each day and try new things but I did repeat a few of them! If I wanted something sweeter I would get the yogurt bowl which came with more fresh fruit and a homemade granola. Also on the sweeter side was a delicious chia seed pudding with fruit. Then, on the savory side, they had the absolute best breakfast burrito I have ever tasted. This burrito had everything - eggs, a black bean mash, fresh avocados, cheese, salsa, it was perfect.

Now onto lunch, because we were mostly at the beach all day, a lot of times lunch was really quick grab and go stuff. Some days I would run back up to the juice bar and grab a quick smoothie - which were so good. I am very particular about my smoothies, I like them to be very thick, and Harmony did not disappoint. They had this cacao banana mint one that quickly became my favorite. At the main restaurant, they had a delicious shrimp quesadilla served with fresh guacamole. At almost every meal for share plates we would get their homemade guac with plantain chips and homemade hummus served with fresh veggies - both so delish. Again, like I said before, all the meals I ate here never made me feel so stuffed and full, everything was very light and fresh!

Finally for dinner, we only ended up eating at the hotel 2 nights because we typically went out to try other places, but they did not disappoint! The first night I got ceviche and it was great! It was super light and citrusy and great to have after a long travel day. It was served with a few plantain slices which were yummy. The second time we ate dinner here I got a poke bowl that had fresh tuna with carrots, avocado, picked onions, and all kinds of other fresh fruits and veggies. So many different flavors that very amazing!

Overall, the Harmony Hotel was one of the best trip experiences I have been on. They accommodate any requests you have, they have surfboards available to use, the beach is a 2 minute walk from the property and they have a great pool on site. The rooms were clean and had great AC, there were some funky animals around the property and it was within walking distance to a grocery store to pick up a few things if you need anything throughout your stay! I can’t wait to go back to Costa Rica!
